We’ve all been there before. You look down at your cell phone and you notice that you have 20% cell phone battery strength. You know 10% isn’t far behind. Then 5%...4, 3, 2…and your cell phone goes silent. How are you going to text your buddy that you’re running a bit late? How are you going to not see your Facebook or Twitter feed for an extended period of time? This is a crisis!?!?!
Okay, seriously, it’s not a crisis. But it is unnerving, especially if you’re travelling or if you don’t have your cell phone battery charger. No need to worry, though, because this blog post will give you some pointers on how to extend your battery life so that you won’t have that moment of panic when you see the dreaded 20% battery strength message.
Here are some of the most common ways to increase your cell phone battery life:
Disable Your Bluetooth Feature
Unless you’re linking your cell phone to speakers and rocking out to Justin Timberlake’s latest tune, you don’t have to enable your Bluetooth feature. Having this functionality enabled is a drain on your cell battery. So, turn off your Bluetooth.
Put the Low Battery Mode On
Low battery mode is a simple way to increase the life of your cell battery. You can find this in the settings area and once you enable low battery mode, all that will happen is that you won’t get automatic updates, apps won’t refresh, and “Hey Siri” will take a nap. This will prolong your battery for 3-4 hours, according to Apple.
Lower Your Screen Brightness
Again, this is an easy way to increase your cell battery life. Simply adjust the screen brightness on your cell phone to a lower setting, and you will still be able to use your phone. Your screen display won't be as bright but your battery won’t be draining as quickly!
Use Airplane Mode
Even if you have no plans to get on a plane anytime soon, utilizing the airplane mode function when you’re not using your phone is a great way to increase and extend your cell phone battery life.
In Settings, Check Your Battery Usage
If you notice some apps that you use take up a lot of your battery power, don’t use the app as much and you’ll see a big increase in your cell battery life. Since we’re talking about apps now, you can also turn off the background app refresh function as well. This will also help save your battery’s life.
Don't Use Your Camera
Did you know that taking pictures cuts into your battery life? Now you do! When you know that taking pics and using the flash take up a lot of battery power, maybe this will help you be more selective in the photos being snapped when trying to save your battery life!
Well there you have it. These are some of the ways you can extend your cell phone’s battery life. Next time you see that your cell phone battery is quickly losing its’ life, turn off your Bluetooth, turn off the Wi-Fi, adjust your screen brightness, minimize photos, turn on low battery mode…along with everything else we discussed, and your cell phone battery will enjoy an extended period of time!
